With 25 years of experience in strategic communications and reputation management,
including 13 years in school public relations, Kimberly has led award-winning initiatives
in districts such as Atlanta Public Schools and Griffin-Spalding County School System.
Kimberly served as a member of the communications team during the APS CRCT
cheating scandal and rebranding of the school district, under the leadership of three
school superintendents. She also led crisis communications during the 2014 Atlanta
“Snowmageddon” when APS students and staff were stuck on buses and school
buildings.
Kimberly’s expertise also includes developing crisis communication plans, serving as a
media spokesperson, and advising leaders on proactive communication strategies to
safeguard and elevate the reputation of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority,
American Diabetes Association, and the National CASA/GAL Association for Children.
In 2007, Kimberly served as the ADA’s spokesperson, announcing Atlanta emergency
insulin distribution sites for New Orleans diabetes patients displaced by Hurricane
Katrina.
Kimberly recently served as Amazon’s regional public relations specialist, leading
hyperlocal storytelling in metro Atlanta to enhance the company’s visibility and
engagement in labor, operations, and community impact. Kimberly’s career has also
included managing her own company, KW Green Consulting, a full-service
communications firm.
A native of New York City, Kimberly earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from
Clark Atlanta University. She is a graduate of the United Way of Greater Atlanta’s
Volunteer Involvement Program and the All About Developmental Disabilities Partners
in Policymaking Program. In her community, Kimberly advocates for children and adults
with disabilities, and is a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates.
She has served on several boards of directors including The Frazer Center, the Georgia
Pearls of Service Foundation, and the United Way of Metro Atlanta-Henry County
Advisory Board. Kimberly resides in metro Atlanta with her three sons.
Public School Flashback
I am a proud product of the New York City Public School System, where my passion for journalism was sparked by my fourth-grade teacher, Mark Singer, who had us read The New York Times every day. Though the paper seemed larger than life, it opened my eyes to a world of fascinating stories. In fifth grade, my teacher, Leslie Blakely, expanded our horizons with trips to museums that fueled my imagination. I will never forget reciting Langston Hughes’ Mother to Son at a school assembly, a poem that still resonates with me today. I even have a portrait of Hughes in my dining room, a tribute to my family’s Harlem roots and my connection to his work—especially now as the proud mother of three sons of my own.
